This website is the brainchild of several Sussex based artists,
all of whom have been working with watercolour for many years
and come to the medium with a fresh eye and complete commitment
to their discipline. They have all exhibited their work nationally
and internationally.
Watercolour is a wonderfully seductive medium. The use
of transparent washes to build up depth and colour, the importance
of what is left un-stated, its ability to suggest so much
with the simple stroke of the brush, and its luminosity all
go some way to explaining its enduring appeal. |
With little room for correction watercolour makes unique
demands on the artist - the ability both to plan and to improvise,
and to take advantage of the unpredictable nature of the medium,
together with the skill, gained over many years, that enables
the artist to judge between too little and too much.
The artists represented here continue the long and honourable
tradition of British watercolour, represented in its various
disciplines of landscape, still-life, figurative and abstract
painting.
We invite you to browse and enjoy. |
